US restaurant industry on track to lose $240 billion by end of 2020

US restaurants are on track to take a $50B hit in April, with losses mounting to an estimated $240B by the end of 2020, according to a National Restaurant Association survey released on Monday. The lobby group also said that four in ten restaurants have closed — some for good — and eight million employees have already been laid off or furloughed, and asked for a relief package of $240B.
