WHO driver killed collecting COVID-19 samples

A WHO employee has been killed in a conflict-riven region of Myanmar while out collecting COVID-19 monitoring samples. Pyae Sone Win Maung was driving a UN vehicle when it was hit by gunfire in Rakhine State. The region has been marked by an increase in fighting between the military and the armed ethnic Arakan Army group. The two sides blamed each other for the driver’s death.
