NASA’s new moon map to serve as blueprint for human missions

The United States Geological Survey has released a comprehensive new map of the Moon in partnership with NASA and the Lunar Planetary Institute. The ’Unified Geologic Map of the Moon’ aims to serve as a ’definitive blueprint of the Moon’s surface geology for future human missions’. The near side of the Moon is seen marked with lots of pinks that show the Imbrian era formation (3.5B years old).

I am looking forward to seeing humans return to the Moon as my parents did. What a wonderous sight it will be and what an inspiration it will be for children and adults alike.

The key to human habitation on the moon is to access the ice caves under the surface. Once sealed off, ice can be converted into hydrogen {fuel), oxygen (fuel, atmosphere) and water. Being underground will protect humans from gamma radiation.

Those maps are amazing. I want a couple framed for my office at home.

And we will (hopefully) live to see it! What a time to be alive
