Coronavirus puts 26M Americans out of work; wiping out all gains since recession

The number of Americans put out of work by the pandemic grew to 26.4 million last week,16 percent of the American workforce, as another 4.4 million people applied for unemployment benefits. The federal data reveals that the US economy has now lost all the job gains since the Great Recession. The economy had created around 22 million jobs since 2010, during a historic decade of economic expansion.
