African countries are far behind in the race to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The number of cases have surged 43 percent in the past week but the countries are far behind in the fight against the virus due to scarce medical equipment. The continent has only 2,000 ventilators across 41 countries with ten countries having none at all.
I find it crazy that whole countries decide not to be self sufficient but to rely on the genorosity of “ richer” countries. Then to complain about it! They knew what was happening around the world. Have had months to prepare. Instead they did nothing and NOW they blame the U.S. and other countries for their lack of good leaders and shaming those same countries that you are begging from, not smart on any level. Seriously get your stuff together and figure it out for yourselves. Just like every other country has had to do. We are not responsible to care for the world. You are responsible for taking care of your own country. Not everyone elses
For real though. Billions and billions of aid over decades to help Africa get a grip. Health, agriculture, infrastructure, economy, eduction, even very strong feminist pushes to get the women have the power.
I agree Africa has a looming problem coming up in the fight against Covid 19, my issue as an African is the incomplete data used. Africa has 48 countries on the mainland and 6 on the islands surrounding the continent, so which countries were excluded from the figures? As far as I know South Africa has 3216 ventilators in government and private hospitals,
Nice rack on the one on the left. Lulz
From the picture, they are living in semi-squalor carrying things around balanced on their heads -- I'd say say they are dangerously behind on a lot more than just 'virus gear. '
