The Commerce Dept announced that orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft, edged up 0.1% in Mar against economists poll expectation of 6% decline. The core capital goods data for Feb was revised to 0.8% decline instead of 0.9% reported earlier. The US durable goods orders fell 14.4% in the month, compared with expectations for an 11.9% drop. Durable goods orders rose 1.2% in Feb.
