Bookseller who fled Hong Kong opens shop in Taiwan, country shows solidarity

Tsai Ing-wen, the President of Taiwan offered her congratulations to a bookseller who fled from Hong Kong to the democratic island, as the latter opened a new shop in Taipei. The bookseller fled from Hong Kong fearing persecution from mainland China. The bookseller used to work at a bookshop which sold literature critical of the Chinese government, as was consequently detained for eight months.

If you sell books that criticizes the authoritarian regime, and know they will not tolerate said criticism, do not be surprised when they come and take you away for “re-education” or worse.

I saw a documentary about this guy on RT (or was it NHK). I’m glad he’s able to open his bookstore again. Screw Red China!

Taiwan is the real Republic of China. The commies' is a people's republic which is ironic since they never really are for the people. Go Taiwan!
