Michael Burry of ’The Big Short’ reveals a $530M bet against Tesla

Famed investor Michael Burry has revealed in a regulatory filing a short position against Tesla worth more than half a billion. Burry is long puts against 800,100 shares of Tesla or $534M by the end of the first quarter, according to an SEC filing. Burry, depicted in Michael Lewis’ book ’The Big Short,’ shot to fame by betting against mortgage securities before the 2008 crisis.

Tesla is massively overvalued. Add to that their vehicles aren’t really made that well, he isn’t really making money and other vehicle manufacturers are bringing their own EV to market; so Tesla has a long way to fall, before it gets to a realistic price/valuation. This was always going to happen. Whoever gets the shorts timing right, will make a ton of money.
