Michigan state senator apologizes for wearing Confederate flag mask

Michigan state Senator Dale Zorn has apologized after wearing a face mask that appeared to depict the Confederate flag. Zorn wore the mask during a Senate vote at the state capitol in Lansing on Friday. He initially defended this, saying his wife had made the mask and that it depicted the flag of Tennessee or Kentucky. After widespread outrage, Zorn issued an apology on Saturday.

Honestly, I understand why people are upset about the confederate flag but I don’t feel that the flag inherently promotes slavery. Slavery is wrong period, however the civil war was not fought over slavery and the flag resembles something other than slavery.
