Dr. Fauci backed funding for controversial Wuhan lab studying coronavirus origin

For years, National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the organization led by Dr. Fauci, funded scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and other institutions to work on gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses. Such research studies how a virus can ’jump’ from animals to humans. Many scientists consider such research risky because of the possibility of accidental release.

It's not the studying of bat corona viruses that is problematic. We should study viruses, that's what medicine is. It's the way the chinese handled the virus that was the problem. I think we should be investing in labs studying viruses. However I dont think we should continue funding chinese labs in any capacity. If we do funfind any foreign labs they must be held to US safety protocols or funding will be pulled. That's my take.

Declare medicine research a national national health mandate and take out your labs out of your Chinese labs. In case you are wondering, your technology and patents are bing stolen through these channels and Chinese are selling you back your own research and development and wiping out your own domestic production. And we aren't even talking about military application and use of these research facilities.

It’s a big mistake for the governments of the West to have been so keen to draw China into the global community. Outsourcing critical supply chain, collaborating on dangerous projects and using Chinese built technology in our infrastructure would make more sense if we had shared values. It’s not simply about animal welfare and this virus. The fact is the people of China and their political leadership fail to uphold reasonable standards in a raft of human characteristics from personal hygiene to how they treat their neighbours. That we don’t share common ground on valuing human life, freedom, respecting intellectual property and protecting the environment should be enough to prevent our reliance on and partnership with China. It’s time to stand up to those rogue nations who would shake our hands while scheming behind our backs.
