Meatpackers welcome Trump order to stay open; workers say they won’t return

Big meatpacking companies welcomed Trump’s order requiring them to stay open their plants, however, many workers say that they won’t return to work due to unsafe conditions. Trump Tuesday used the Defense Production Act to classify meat processors as critical infrastructure to prevent shortage of food supply as meatpacking plants across the country have closed due to spread of virus among workers.

I feel bad for the workers, but I'm already seeing empty food shelves at my local grocery store. I'm actually worried that some people might end up starving if we don't keep food production plants open.

Veggies are being burned with no place to take them. Meat will go rotten if it isn't processed and shipped. Turns out food is part of the economy, who woulda guessed shutting everything down could threaten the food supply...
