WHO official lauds Sweden as a ’model’ in COVID-19 fight

A top official from WHO has come out in praise of Sweden as a ’model’ for the rest of the world in fighting COVID-19. Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s Emergencies Program, called the country ’a future model of — if we wish to get back to a society in which we don’t have lockdowns’. Ryan praised the country for having ’ramped up their capacity to do intensive care quite significantly’.

WHO praises Sweden for ignoring their advice

I was pleasantly susrprised when Sweden didn't go the authoritarian way and gave citizens a choice instead, but if the WHO praises them for it then there must be something fishy about the whole deal that I didn't realize.

I’m sure Sweden are entirely disinterested in the opinions of WHO.

Where are the trolls from last weeks Sweden post saying they got it wrong by using herd immunity and they their people are dying like “flies” ? Some people on this platform should have their phones confiscated.

As it turns out, humans have this thing called an "immune system": Governments worldwide shocked and stunned.

The WHO sure tries and finds a way to stay in the limelight. See a glimmer of light and try and link yourself to that.

WHO praises the coutry for its efforts in terms of Medical capacity and testing measures, but mostly praises the civil population for respecting the measures imposed. A country where disease prevention is done By individuals with citizenry, rather than by rule of law is indeed applaudable.

Are they dieing slightly more? Sure. Will they have a second wave? No. Do they have massive suicides, DV, and other secondary effects? No. What's your issue, commies? CCP not funding your university enough?

There's something here that doesn't make sense. I think the doctors that are advising Trump should be investigated. When all this stuff about Covid19 started, I was worried, but lately, I feel theirs something fishy here.

This feels like that episode of South Park when the Klan showed up to support the people who wanted to keep the flag the same and they went out of their way to make sure that the Klan didn't endorse them. Hey, WHO, those of us who want things open again don't want YOUR support now that YOU have been discredited.

Wait, so WHO is saying social distancing is a waste of time? Can't say I'm overly shocked.

Sweden is taking the right approach? Per million, they have the highest COVID-19 death rate, even greater than the U.S.A.

If you apply the death rate of Sweden to the US population they have the equivalent of 76000 deaths last time I checked while the US was a bit less than 60000. A model ? Sure but not to follow. They sacrificed the more fragile inviduals. That’s what they did and the head of their public head body looked quite happy with it. 💀💀💀 Bravo 👏 👏👏👏 He’s counting on an unproven herd immunity. If it backfires he’d better hang himself before they lynch him.

Lol that's cause Sweden has less population than my high school did.

The way to get rid of lockdowns is to find a vaccine, not to sacrifice the vulnerable. Also, Sweden’s population density is low, families are small, creating a certain amount of natural social distancing. Last but not least Sweden is rich and has a highly developed public healthcare system, something not likely to be adopted by many countries, least of all the USA. So, all this said, and given the high number of dead per capita, how exactly is Sweden an example to emulate?

Kind of easy to avoid global “pandemics” when you have only 10 million+ people and over 170,000 square miles of landmass. I’d really be afraid if they did have a bad outbreak there

Ah, the WHO. I guess that's because Sweden is having issues with China. It explains why the WHO is suddenly heaping praise on Sweden. Hm.
