Microsoft tops $10 billion in earnings, beating even pre-pandemic expectations

Microsoft shares rose as much as 5% in extended trading Wednesday after the company reported fiscal third-quarter sales growth of 15%, fueled by its cloud business. Microsoft reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of $10.75B, or $1.40 a share, on sales of $35B, up from profit of $1.14 a share on revenue of $30.57B a year ago. Analysts had expected Microsoft to earn $33.7B in revenue.
