Musk calls shelter-in-place orders ’fascist’ on Tesla Q1 earnings call

Elon Musk Wednesday called sweeping US restrictions to curtail the pandemic ’fascist’ and described California’s shelter-in-place order as ’forcible imprisoning’ that had robbed Americans of ’their constitutional rights.’The CEO of Tesla Inc was speaking during an earnings call where he said the company had posted its third quarterly profit in a row that had the automaker’s stock soaring.

It will be interesting when he declares himself ruler of Mars. In any case, I do agree the orders should be made more lax in a majority of states, though likely for less personal motivations.

Then he should vote R in the next election. But he won't. He will just cry and moan then vote in those that make him cry and moan. Silly cycle.

At least we know that he will not issue Shelter in Place orders once he sets up his city on Mars.

He's not wrong that lockdowns must temporarily break freedoms, but I've seen what this virus can do to people, and the sooner we can stop the spread, the sooner we can be free without the risk of drowning in our own respiratory fluid.

Love Musk but gotta disagree with him on this one. Your freedom ends where someone's life begins. America has freedom of speech, till you falsely yell "fire" in a crowded theatre and put people's lives at risk. If people could be trusted not to, oh I don't know, go on spring break and completely ignore the government guidance? Then they wouldn't need to enforce it. The question is: will the government give up these new found powers once the threat has passed?

"Fascist" is the most overused and incorrectly applied political descriptor of our times.
