Musk’s SpaceX, Bezos’ Blue Origin land contracts to build NASA

NASA has selected space firms SpaceX, Blue Origin and Dynetics to build lunar landing systems that can carry astronauts to the moon by 2024. The three companies will share $967 million from NASA. Boeing proposed a lander concept last year but was not selected.

@Scott, space tourism, satellite internet, private contract launches, and hosted space infrastructure (ground-station-as-a-service, etc.)

SpaceX, Blue Origin and other new companies win big here. Boeing needs to up their game to avoid getting left behind completely. I sort of hope SpaceX wins the contract but my money is on the National Team led by Blue Origon because it gets more companies involved and on the payroll.

I wonder how these companies will look in the future with less need for government contracts for spaceflight. Similar to Lockheed Martin and Boeing from the cold war era
