ICANN votes down controversial .org sale proposal

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization overseeing internet domain names, has rejected a proposal to transfer management of the .org top-level domain from a nonprofit operator Public Interest Registry to a private equity group Ethos Capital, claiming that it would create ’unacceptable uncertainty’ for the domain.
