Park ranger enforces distancing, pushed into water

A Texas park ranger, cautioning a group about social distancing, was pushed into a lake. Video footage of the incident shows the Commons Ford Metropolitan Park ranger asking a group gathered on the docks of Lake Austin to ’disperse’. Soon after a man ran up and pushed the ranger into the water. Brandon Hicks, 25, was arrested and charged with attempted assault on a public servant.

The guy that shoved him is going to do time for assult. This is why civil disobedience doesn't and can't include violence however I agree with you, the officer should never have gotten that close without a mask at least.

If the ranger was close enough to get shoved, he has no right to say anything about the thing he is currently breaking

There was no need to push the officer. Just ignore his unlawful plea and continue with your day. If the officer escalates after that the fault falls on him and you then reserve the right to take legal action against him and the entity that employs him.

He assaulted the officer with that shove, and is probably going to get a slap on the wrist for it. Good on that citizen, and good on my state for merely enforcing the real law, instead of trying to enforce made up laws. I can't imagine that any part of the Texas Government is stupid enough to test us after we just had this citizen demonstrate how willing the citizenry is to ignore and react the unconstitutional requests of it's representatives.

Unless a states rules about social distancing are actually LAWS, the authorities can only suggest people disburse. There was no reason to push the ranger, but this event shows the frustration building in people over social distancing.
