Asian markets slide as US ratchets up rhetoric blaming China for spread of virus

Shares skidded in Asia on Monday as investors eyed rising tensions between the Trump administration and China over the origins and handling of the pandemic. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index tumbled 3.7%, while South Korea’s Kospi, fell 1.8%. Benchmark indexes in Taiwan, -2.47% , Singapore, -2.11%, Malaysia -2.09%, and Indonesia , -2.58% dropped, while Australia’s, edged up 0.4%.
