Philippine broadcaster ABS-CBN goes off air

People were shocked in the Philippines after a major news provider went off air during the times of the coronavirus pandemic. The news provider, ABS-CBN Corp, has been ordered by a Philippine government agency to halt operations after its congressional franchise expired. The network has been targeted by the President before, for its critical news coverage.

ABS-CBN was not able to renew its permits since 2014 and has gone on unchecked until now. It is just untimely that their extension expired amidst this outbreak so the congress cannot handle its situation right now. So it isn't the NTC's fault, nor the congress', nor is the the President's. Their permit expired so they were shut down. This wasn't a matter of 'press freedom'. We may have an imperfect president, but who is? He has a sharp tongue and his methods are strict, sure, but the country is in such deep trouble from drugs and corruption that it needs a firm leader not the laid back kind. You need to be here to truly understand how things are happening.
