Pair is arrested on first fraud charges tied to small-business loan program

Two New England men have become the first people charged in the US with fraudulently applying for aid from a federal program designed to help small businesses deal with financial fallout from the pandemic. David Staveley and David Butziger applied for more than $500,000 in loans, claiming that they had several workers employed at businesses, when in reality, the businesses hadn’t been opened.
