Job losses at Airbnb as Coronavirus economic hardship bites

Home-sharing platform Airbnb said it would make nearly 1900 redundancies amounting to 25% of the workforce. In March 2017 Airbnb was valued at $31 billion. By the end of April 2020, amid Coronavirus economic woes it was worth $18 billion. CEO Brian Chesky said 2020 earnings would be half the previous year. The company is structuring a benefit package, including medical for affected employees.
