Most new COVID-19 cases are coming from home

New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, has confirmed in a media briefing yesterday that despite the precautionary measures being taken to curb the spread of COVID-19 in New York, new cases are emerging in hospitals and are being thought to be coming from homes. The age group most affected by the new round of cases is said to be around 51 and older.

Big fucking surprise to none with common sense. Get rid of these stupid orders and let people go outside and open things back up.

Wow. So glad social distancing happened. All those people who wanted to stay home can stay home. As I've said before, I'll happily go out and enjoy life.

How many of these homes are high-rises with shared HVAC? (same problem as with cruise ships). Also, we've seen pictures of some people ignoring the distancing. Would be interesting to find out any correlation between these 2 groups.

The bigger question is how much higher would it be without mitigation?

It seems like the question "Does the lockdown even work?" doesn't follow from the evidence, unless you believe that the measures taken in NY should have brought the rate of transmission down to 0. A better conclusion would maybe be that the disease is incredibly contagious, given how many people are catching it with very limited social interaction, which would lead to far higher infection numbers if more social interaction was encouraged or allowed.
