Father-son duo charged with murder of Ahmaud Arbery

Father-son duo charged with murder of Ahmaud Arbery

A father and son have been arrested and charged in Georgia for the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery. Gregory McMichael, 64, and Travis McMichael, 34, were detained on Thursday. They have been charged with murder and aggravated assault. Arbery, 25, was caught on camera illegally entering a construction site in February just before he violently confronted the pair. He was shot in the ensuing struggle

Based on the evidence I've seen it appears the guys definitely shouldn't have confronted the jogger the way they did. One way or another it's extremely unfortunate what happened. With that being said when people like LeBron James who is worshipped by people tweets that "we cant even go outside without being hunted", escalating the tensions between blacks and whites, thats absolutely absurd, irresponsible, reckless, and downright stupid. The reason this is even a story at all is because it's a crazy story. Something that never happens. Blacks are not routinely hunted down by white people and anyone who says otherwise is either extremely misinformed or trying to stir up trouble.

Here come the black people that are going to destroy their neighborhoods and cost thousands in damages because they care more about skin colors than facts. If Ahumad didn't want to get shot he shouldn't of charged a man with a gun. If you charge a man with a gun you're gonna have a bad time.

Of course it's going to be investigated. That is how the system works. Of course, if they don't like the result they'll say the system is broken.

I wish people reported about how this was an attempt at a civil arrest gone horribly wrong. Those calling this a modern day lynching are going to exasterbate racial tensions to fit a narrative. I'm not dismissing if the father and son dou deserve Murder or manslaughter charges. I simply pointing out the way this is being used to fear monger and promote a narrative. The guy who died had a record and did fit a description of robber people were searching for, doesn't excuse his death, but it definitely means we shouldn't jump straight to racial profiling.

But like there are far more murders of white done by blacks then the reverse.. Im not saying this isn't horrible and needs to be addressed, but its clear we value the death of an African American killed by a white then any other situation. This is being used as a political tool. My thoughts and prayers go out to family of the victims and I hope justic is swift on the cowards who did this

It is important information that this neighborhood was having a string of roberies and this Ahumad wasn't part of their community. The guy that shot him was out patroling the neiborhood and he didnt shoot at ahumad until Auhamd charged at him. You should never run at someone with a gun. Auhamad got shot while trying to grab the persons gun while auhamed was Repeatedly punching him in the face. This is a clear case of self defense. If he was running away and got shot that would be a diffrent story.

Idiots and/or racists. Pursuing a person who ‘looks like’ a burglary suspect with shotguns. Try calling the cops next time. Why did it take 2 months to arrest the father/son moron murder team?

Citizens arrest, huh? Gee, I wonder what the probable cause was? Give me a break. I hope they do get sentenced as a lesson after their stupid profiling led to someone's death.

Can’t read anymore comments from these people. This was a murder. Stop debating it.

Would be nice if police didn't have immunity and were actually charged with the same crime a civilian would be charged with when they shove guns in people's faces, destroy evidence, and kill dogs, let alone kill people. The only reason this case is getting attention is bc the victim was black, same with police shootings, especially the ones where a criminal resists arrest, all while anyone with less melanin gets ignored. That racialized politics is why conservatives do nothing as a rigged system openly states that police are assumed to have acted in good faith unless explicitly obvious they didn't, and good faith means the courts give the police the benefit of the doubt with use of force, as in shooting your dogs. Somehow I can carry a rapid access pepper device, and am willing not to be a coward and take a bite rather than put a bullet in someone's pet, but cops "can't arrest" a dog and pepper spray "doesn't always work" so their precious bodies are more important than anything else, making them willing to shoot a pet rather than take a risk; That isn't my definition of a hero. So these two will get convicted, people will racialize it, and nobody will see the REAL double standard. Spare me any "few bad apples" arguments, bc "a few bad apples spoil the barrel," and anyone who tolerates dishonor in the uniform they wear, wears a uniform without honor.

This is a never ending argument, but in my opinion, shame on you guys that start your comments with phony sympathies then proceed to justify that the white dude fired in self defense because Arbery rushed him.

Two and a half months before they were arrested. Yeah, those are some slow wheels of ‘justice’. Their axels may be gummed up with corruption and a bit of racism.

Do I want to see them in prison? Yes! Does it matter what I want? No not really. The police forces etc and in the end a jury and a judge have to decide. And if they say they acted in self defense or similar, it doesn’t matter that I don’t believe them if I can’t proof that it was murder than they shouldn’t be convicted. I hope for a confession or else for sufficient evidence, we shouldn’t have people going around shoving others shotguns in the face, burglar or not. But let’s wait for the judicial ststem to act and let’s not complain about the outcome either way. If you want to help the victims don’t yell at the police when these suspects get set free, debate how to prevent such things of happening in the future. You can’t revive who is already dead and burried but you can lower the amount of future cases.

White men storm the state capital with guns and body armor...nothing. Black man jogging in the middle of the day, shot dead. Only in America.

Did he burglarize a home? Maybe. Did they attempt to unlawfully detain someone? Maybe. Did that someone attack them? Yes. Did that someone act lawfully in attacking them? Maybe. Can you lawfully defend yourself while you're making an unlawful arrest? Maybe, maybe not. Was he killed for jogging while black? No.

There was a string of Burglaries, Ahmud had a violent history including crimes such as burglaries and possesion of illegal fire arms. The racist woke media trying to push this as an issue of racism when Ahmaud is most likely guilty of the home invasion in that area.
