Trump administration rejected offer to manufacture 1.7M N95 masks weekly in Jan

The US government turned down an offer to produce up to 1.7 million N95 masks per week in Jan, reported the Washington Post. Michael Bowen, the VP of Prestige Ameritech, reportedly wrote to the Department of Health and Human Services on Jan 22, the day the first case was detected in the US, that he was willing to re-activate 4 dormant machines should the situation become dire, but he was denied.
