Thousands of religious institutions received PPP loans

Of the nearly 17,000 Catholic parishes in the US, about 10,000 applied for PPP loans. Of those, 9,000 have had their applications approved. Besides, loans to 573 Jewish organizations were approved, totaling $276 million. While some have raised questions on treating religious institutions as small businesses, officials say the loans are aimed at trying to keep employees on their payrolls.

Paycheck protection from the government who you don’t pay taxes to. You may ignore how that could reflect on the church. But the Lord jesus will not!

I'm ok with this. Employees of the programs they have at churches are taxpayers. There is not an employee in this country that doesn't pay some form of tax, ie payroll or sales or wheel taxes. What's the alternative? Oh leftists, what a pickle you are in. Go on, party of the working people, look right into Maud's eyes and say "no fuck you, you work as a custodian at a church, you starve."

as the amazing George carline said: Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!"

That's stupid. They should go to the current "the" pope and sell some of its gold, marble, buildings and other expensive sh¡t which it doesn't need, which was bought with money stolen from masoch(r)ists via BS, lies, and manipulation.

If churches are being treated like small businesses then they need to start paying taxes like all small businesses do. How much money did mega churches bring in last year close to 5 billion dollars and paid no tax on that.

Interesting, no numbers on mosques, Islamic or other group. No anti-christian bias here. Also religion, specifically Christianity, whether you are a believer or not, civilized the world you now get to sh1t on with postmodern, regressive garbage.

churches shouldnt get anything from the federal government. If they did they should be taxed thereafter.

If your not paying taxes how do you qualify for taxpayer funds. Hell shouldn’t the catholic groups be reaching out to the archdiocese. I don’t know if the Jews have an overriding body like that if they do look to them if not shouldn’t your congregation (?) be supporting you. Isn’t that how religion is supposed to work.

Wow church's should of never had access to PPP. That's why there is a separation of church and state. They do not need PPP they just want to keep their sex cult alive.

I guess my only general thoughts come down to: did other non-profit, tax-exempt organizations (religious or otherwise) get PPP loans? I’m willing to bet some did, and possibly none of them should have, but it seems weird to focus on churches here.
