WHO says has ’no mandate’ to invite Taiwan to assembly meeting

The WHO said that they have no mandate to invite Taiwan in its assembly meeting next week despite the island’s campaigning to attend it. WHO’s lawyer Steven Solomon said that only member states could decide who attends the meeting and they had ’divergent views’ on the matter. China is against Taiwan’s participation in the meeting and had even berated New Zealand Monday for its support of the same.
