CDC identifies additional 5,000 NYC deaths that may have been caused by COVID-19

The death toll of NYC because of Covid-19 could be much higher than officially declared, says an analysis by the CDC. From March 11 to May 2, there were 32,107 deaths, 24,172 more that the city would have expected. While Covid-19 was tied to 18,879 of the deaths, there were an extra 5,293 deaths that weren’t earlier identified due to the virus that ’might have been attributable to the pandemic’
