Morrisons sees sales boost from lockdown

Morrisons has reported a 5.7% rise in sales in its latest quarter, saying that demand was boosted by the lockdown. The Bradford-based supermarket chain said online sales had doubled, to £1bn on an annualised basis. Sales were up during the period of panic buying in the first half of March, before being hit by the initial lockdown. However, a ’significant improvement’ was seen in recent weeks.
