Wisconsin Supreme Court blocks governor’s ’safer at home’ extension

The Wisconsin Supreme Court Wednesday struck down Gov. Tony Evers’ administration’s extended ’safer at home’ order, which was set to expire May 26. The court struck down the orders 4-3, ruling that while Evers possesses emergency powers as governor, the stay-at-home directive was effectively imposed by the state’s top health official, whose discretion as a political appointee is more limited.
