Almost 3 million US citizens filed for unemployment last week

The Department of Labor reported on Thursday that around 3 million Americans filed new unemployment benefit claims last week. This means that in the past eight weeks, more than 36 million workers from across the United States have filed for unemployment benefits. The coronavirus pandemic has severely disrupted the US economy, and many states are looking to cautiously reopen their economies.
