U.S. Senate approves human rights bill for Uyghur Muslims in China

The Senate passed a bill that Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced that would place sanctions on Communist Party officials for their involvement in the human rights abuses against the Muslim minority group in China known as Uyghurs. The House passed a similar bill last year. For years now the UN has estimated over a million Uyghurs are held in camps found in the Xinjiang province of northwest China.
