Increase in coronavirus cases expected as New York reopens, Cuomo says

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that new COVID-19 cases are predominantly coming from people who left their homes to shop, exercise or socialize, rather than from essential workers, and said that the state expects to see an increase in the cases as half of New York’s regions begun to reopen. ’You’re going to see an increase in the numbers, but you don’t want to see a spike,’ Cuomo said.

It wasn't that bad. My bro got it and got over it. He had a bad cough and heachache. That's it. Increase infection rate doesn't mean increase death toll. Covid-19 isn't scary if the symptoms are mild or if the strain is of the asymptomatic variety. Most people are actually dealing with it just fine. The hospitals and clinics in my city are all practically empty. Despite the high number of people infected, most people are simply self treating at home.

No shit. When people move about and some are sick, they get others sick. That is how disease works. The lockdown does not change this. It was meant to slow the increase of new cases while we had no reliable information on this new strain. Now that we do have better information and no less than 5 treatment options depending on who you listen to, we can reopen. That doesn't mean go lick everything in sight, keep up the social distancing and so on and eventually we will have enough people with immunity that the disease will run it's course. Keep in mind that this strain will likely become a yearly occurrence, but every strain of flu was new once. This is just the latest one. Carry on people.
