Japan’s economy slips into recession

Japan reported a 3.4 percent drop in GDP for the first quarter of 2020 driving the economy into recession as the last quarter of 2019 contracted by 1.9 percent. This comes as the novel coronavirus pandemic halted production, exports, spending and pushed at least 141 Japanese companies to bankruptcy since February.
