US Supreme Court heaps more damages on Sudan in embassy bombing cases

The US Supreme Court has ruled that Sudan cannot avoid punitive damages in lawsuits accusing it of complicity in the 1998 Al Qaeda bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Sudan was accused of giving the terrorist organization and its leader Osama Bin Laden technical and financial support. The decision reinstates $800m out of the more than $4B that was awarded in punitive damages.
