New virus killing wild rabbits in the US

Wildlife officials have reported that a deadly virus is spreading across the southwestern part of the United States, and is killing rabbits for the first time on the continent. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said that the Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease virus type 2 causes internal bleeding, swelling and liver damage in hares, rabbits, jackrabbits and pikas.
