Walmart Q1 online sales surge 74%; earnings to beat analyst expectation

Walmart online sales for Q1 jumped 74% to $134.62bn on back of strong demand for canned foods, paper towels and other supplies as people stayed home during Covid-19 lockdown. The same-store sales surged 10% but costs too surged $900mn in all related to the pandemic. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.18 per share against the analyst expectation of $1.10 per share.
