Google to stop making A.I. tools for oil and gas firms

Google has assured to stop making customized A.I. tools for oil & gas firms. This comes after a Greenpeace report highlighted how US tech companies are helping oil & gas firms find fossil fuels globally and thereby profit from the climate destruction. This move has been welcomed by Greenpeace USA however they acknowledged that Google still has a few legacy contracts with oil and gas firms.

This makes room for other tech companies to grow. Maybe one day they will be able to compete and crush Google. That would be a lovely Beginning of the End story for Google

Because taking away access to efficiency tools will stop it from happening, instead of just making it more dangerous for workers and the environment. Good thinking Google.

Ok, sure, awesome, like ONG can't hire a bazillion other companies who write garbage AI. BTW Greenpeace still exists!?! LOL, I thought they were done for when "fat shaming" became a crime🤔😛

Good! Silicon Valley needs more competition if only to help curb their ideological biases, if this opens the market for other companies to step in and provide the tools needed to make oil drilling safer, more efficient, and thus more eco-friendly I'm not seeing how this is a bad thing. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thank you Greenpeace for helping to encourage a more open market in the tech industry. 👍🏻
