Super Cyclone initiates evacuation of millions in India and Bangladesh

Super cyclone Amphan, the Bay of Bengal’s most ferocious storm this century, has hit eastern India and Bangladesh on Wednesday. It has led to evacuation measures for millions of people from coastal areas in both countries. India’s Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rain and strong winds in West Bengal and warned that Amphan could bring 10 to 16 feet of storm surge.
