UK Inflation plunges to Aug’16 low

UK CPI fell to 0.8% in Apr down from 1.5% in Mar, lowest since Aug’16. This decline was mainly on back of falling energy & fuel costs as it fell a record 10.4p a litre. Additionally the decision to reduce the price cap on default household energy tariffs also contributed to lower inflation. But price increases were witnessed in games & hobbies category and for fresh food - especially vegetables.
