Volkswagen apologizes for hidden racial comments in Golf car advertisement

Volkswagen released an advertisement on Instagram of a Golf car in which a large white hand flicks a black man away from the car, into a cafe named ’Petit Colon’, which is said to contain colonial overtones. The company was accused of being racist for which it apologized immediately and took down the video from Instagram. They further added that they would look into the matter with their team.

I watched it 15 times, read the explanation, but I STILL don't see what the racism is about. Can someone explain?

Dobthey have to drag skin color into everything? Why not interpret it just as a hand throwing a person?

In a world where everything is racist, that's racist. I haven't seen the video but if the BBC or CNN reports it, it probably reaches hard to support a narrative of racial divide and hate.

I want to be all "NEVER BOW TO THE MOB!" but at this point, it's yelling into the void. Rich liberal cities are a market, and every corporation in the country can't afford to lose that. "Racism" or not, I'm sure they're just covering their butts.

Imagine being such a racist you see colonialism everywhere and always need to protect black people because they can't do it themselves.
