Top HIV scientist says don’t count on having a coronavirus vaccine anytime soon

A top US scientist, William Haseltine, has said that people should not count on a Covid-19 vaccine being developed any time soon. Haseltine, a pioneering researcher of cancer, HIV/AIDS and human genome projects said the vaccines developed previously for other types of coronavirus had failed to protect mucous membranes in the nose where the virus typically enters the body.

Well if you’re a medic or scientist correct me if I’m wring but: would it be that bad if the virus could still enter the nose as long as in most parts of the body exists a sufficient immune response, I would at least think it should be much milder. That’s all we need. If with the vaccine we get from 20% need hospitalization to 1% needs hospitalization we have basically won. Also If people recover faster, aren’t as effected, they generally tend to spread less viral material and thus infect less people...
