Facebook Inc (FB.O) will permanently embrace remote work even after coronavirus lockdowns ease, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said on Thursday, accelerating the tech sector’s geographic diversification away from its home in Silicon Valley, and by 2030 (if Facebook is still a thing), half of the employees may work from home.

That comes on heels of Jack Dorsey announcing similar remote work policy for Twitter and Square. It may prompt many other big and mid sized companies to follow suit. I’m down for it. It really doesn’t make sense to have people go into office buildings to do work if they don’t need too. For a lot of companies it would say thousands upon thousands of dollars in rent utilities and expenses to just have people work from home.
