Fifth deal for Jio Platforms; KKR invests $1.5 bn

US equity firm KKR is purchasing a 2.32% stake in India’s Reliance Jio Platforms for $1.5 billion. This is the fifth major deal the top Indian telecom operator has secured in just as many weeks. KKR joins fellow American investors Facebook, Silver Lake, Vista Equity Partners, and General Atlantic. The investment values Reliance Jio Platforms, with 388 million subscribers, at $65 billion.
