US Labor Department released a report showing that more than 20% of American workforce filed for unemployment due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus all across the United States. Moreover, unemployment rose all across the nation, the most affected states being Nevada and Michigan with more than 23% of workforce filing for unemployment.

The title and summary are poorly written. Unemployment isn't rising because Covid is spreading. Unemployment is rising because we continue to lockdown large areas of the country. The virus is just the catalyst. It is the human response that cost jobs, and I'm not even arguing that it was unnecessary. That's beside the point. I'm just pointing out that the summary and headline are slanted writing.

The consequences of this pandemic in every avenue of life will be very interesting to examine after the end of this outbreak. In terms of economics, I suggest people here read "Towards a Truly Free Market", written in 2010 by John C. Médaille. Médaille wrote it so even if you are not educated in economics you can understand what he is saying. This book seems even more relevant right now, amidst the economic lockdown.
