New Yorkers exuberant over dip in number of deaths linked to the virus

New York State witnessed 84 deaths on Friday which marked the first time the number fell below 100. The state witnessed the peak of the outbreak on April 7, when 590 people died in one day. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Long Island and Mid-Hudson regions could reopen if cases continued to decline. Reports state that there have been 28,853 deaths in total since the pandemic began while 63,000 survived.
