Crowds cram beaches across US on Memorial Day weekend

Americans flocked beaches, lakes for Memorial Day weekend, in some places flouting social distancing restrictions. In Florida, police dispersed an unauthorized gathering of hundreds of people in Daytona Beach. In Missouri, bars at the Lake of the Ozarks were packed with revelers. Task force chief Dr. Birx said she was ’concerned’ seeing the scenes, insisting people social distance or wear a mask.

With more Freedom, it means greater responsibility. People will die like they always have, the world should'nt stop moving because of any virus.

Instead of being mad just stay inside. You’ve got no business telling others what to do.

Prepare for the second wave of Corona virus like what happened in 1918 with the flu pandemic. We continue to learn nothing from history.

Those people made a choice, others can make a choice as well and if one is concerned protective measures are available should one CHOOSE to implement them... I like choices. 👍🏻

The media will relate Memorial Day gatherings to death tolls even before enough time has gone by for any possible Memorial Day spreading to have had time to effect others and without any proven correlation. That's how this works. It's all about the headlines.

Remember that the virus has a death rate of only 0.3% and if your healthy and under the age of 50/60 you have nothing to worry about. I swear, yall are just looking for things to panic about. Find a better hobby.

These people do not appear to be too afraid. That is good, giving into fear and remaining lockdown is the worst response. That being said I think some rational and sensible precautions should be practiced by those going out.

Don't visit grandma for a few weeks. Check your blood oxygen saturation. Btw is that an actual pic from the US? Or is it more pics from Italy provided by CBS?

Who actually cares? Why is there some sort of obsession over a person or group of people being "wrong"? Let them gather at their own risk, who cares... The death rate of the disease is VERY low, the virus does NOT travel in sunlight, most people have most likely been exposed at this point so if they did not get sick, they are most likely safe. People are not going to gather in masses with masks on, enough of this nameless and faceless tactic that the government is imposing. Let these people be, you too have a choice to stay inside if you wish

I don't want to hear any of these people praise a healthcare worker, tho. Even if they aren't at a very high risk of mortality our system can only handle so many sick people. Especially the healthcare systems in more rural parts of the US, like Missouri.

The best advice I can give, is to stay away from these types of people! Don't expose yourself to them, they're selfish and moronic, don't take the risk! Let God sort em out

I like how my life is being endangered by the choices of others and then seeing it being labeled as freedom. If I were to step on a mine over and over next to your family, you would tell me to stop, but it is my choice to endanger myself. The idiocy is fantastic. People can not choose to avoid the virus, only limit the probability of exposure. The problem is that the actions of short sighted idiots like this will increase that probability regardless of what I do. Selfish, moronic and irresponsible.
