China will likely face US sanctions over Hong Kong security law: White House

The US government will likely impose sanctions on China if Beijing implements national security law that would give it greater control over autonomous Hong Kong, National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien said, describing the proposed law as a ’take over’ by Beijing. US officials have warned that the law would end the autonomy of Hong Kong and threaten its status as a financial hub.

The pandemic has jolted democratic leaders out of their complacency. Beijing continues to resist an independent international inquiry into the origins of Covid-19, but we know it lied to the world about the dangers of the virus, silenced the doctors who discovered human-to-human transmission, and manipulated the World Health Organisation, which is led by a director-general whose election China orchestrated. It’s time to act together and exclude all things Chinese from the world community until the people of that country oust their evil politics and embrace a system of government that respects humanity rather than putting it at risk.

Depends on how harsh the sanction are. If food supply gets cut off, they could ration. Will other countries join in sanctions?
