India, China in standoff at Himalayan frontier

Indian and Chinese soldiers are in a standoff in the Ladakh region, with the two countries amassing soldiers and machinery. The standoff began in early May when large contingents of Chinese soldiers entered deep inside Indian-controlled territory at three places in Ladakh, erecting tents and posts. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said the situation was ’generally stable and controllable’.

I imagine Chinese maps show Chinese territory as being notably larger than depicted in none CCP approved maps.

More often than not, wars start when the second biggest power tries to become the first. It's beyond time to knock China down a peg or two.

We should immediately start assisting India. China’s only advantage over us is their numbers and india has more people. Drawing closer to India would be huge for both parties.

So you release a plague on the world and then start marching troops into sovereign countries? Maybe it's time we stop buying Chinese products.

Some of the comments here are truly idiotic. You do know both countries are nuclear powers and have their own allies. I wonder what would happen if some people's suggestions here were acted upon? Cov19 seems to have infected people's brains.

"generally stable and controllable" is a statement China has no credibility or weight behind anymore.

China has an exclusive 'no first use' doctrine with their arsenal and will not employ it over a contested border dispute even of it goes hot. They would not readily waste what few nukes they have on such a thing especially as tensions increase with the West.

India's road and airstrip building program in the region has conflicted with China's Belt and Road initiative, opening some old border disputes from the 60s. Fortunately, a bit like during the Cuban Missile Crisis, there are mechanisms for dialogue over that border. It seems that sensible people had a hand in the last resolution, but let's fuck with that by encouraging a war! Anyone who wants that should be forced to go and serve on the front line.

In the Commie-speak, the word "generally" means "not".
