Minneapolis protesters attack police precinct during clash over Floyd’s death

A protest in Minneapolis over the death of a black man in police custody turned violent as protesters clashed with police and attacked a precinct building. The viral video showed that Floyd was pushed down by police officer, as he yelled of not being able to breathe before he died. The protesters targeted the precinct because it’s believed the four cops involved in Floyd’s arrest, worked there.

The larynx is incredibly easy to crush enough to compromise the airway especially by the weight of an body-armor and full duty gear outfitted male. This practice is highly suspect, especially long term when pain compliance is not necessary. Handcuffs do not make a suspect harmless, but middle of back, or even better, middle of pelvis, allow a much safer immobilization of a potentially violent suspect. All officers should undergo at minimum EMT certification. A hyperventilatory and tachycardic male being suddenly deprived of oxygen for at length greater than 5 minutes can at least create severe hypoxia, hypercarbia, and minimum brain damage. Sure he could still speak, meaning he could breathe, but at a poor tidal volume. I suspect the death was also in part due to pre-existing condition, or spontaneous pneumothorax from the stress and activity. Hypoxia is incredibly hard to detect in dark skinned people due to the difference in appearance the skin takes not being detectable by the naked eye. Stupid mistake.

Maybe someone can give me a decent explanation on why after someone is handcuffed they continue to use their body to restrain. Most people would have a hell of a time getting up under their own power once on their stomach and cuffed.
