US states sue Trump administration over fuel efficiency rollback

A group of 23 US states, the District of Columbia and a dozen environmental groups sued Trump administration Wednesday over its decision to weaken fuel efficiency standards, arguing that the move is based on erroneous science. In March, the administration issued rules requiring 1.5% annual increases in fuel efficiency through 2026 - far weaker than the 5% increases set under Obama administration

First off, everybody wants better fuel efficient as customers. The market will always push in the direction. Sometimes harder than others depending on gas prices. Secondly can't the states impose their own standard. If state gov't can be a pain about every other aspect of owning a vehicle I don't see how this would be any different, just like how fee or fine to charge you.

What an unbelievably low IQ move. Why would you sue to impose tyranny on yourself? In what world do people actually demand force be initiated against themselves? This is peak stup!dity.
